Freedom to Shine - Stillhouse Distillery, The Original Moonshine

The Stillhouse Distillery is located in Culpeper, Virginia. It’s here at the famed Civil War hotspot that Chuck Miller began farming with his wife Jeanette in 1975. Five years later, Chuck decided to start making legal moonshine but in the same fashion that his grandfather did decades before.  After a lengthy process to secure a license, Chuck Miller became the first official legal craft distiller in the United Sates in 1987.  Six years ago chef Adam Perry Lang joined Chuck and in 2010 they unveiled The Original Moonshine.

We love the limited edition (500) promotional packaging they sent to VIPs. Freedom to Shine appears to be a two-volume leather bound book that would make Ron Burgundy proud. It secretly contains a bottle of the Moonshine amidst several pages that detail the rich history of the sacred spirit. We must say it’s quite appropriate and if you can manage to get your hands on one (unlikely) it will most certainly compliment the smell of rich mahogany coming from your apartment. Trust us, this stuff is made for sippin.
